One Room Challenge
I decided to participate in this cycle of the One Room Challenge. What is this one room challenge, you might ask? Well, here is the answer.
Linda from Calling It Home has been hosting this challenge for 10 years. The idea is for bloggers to change a room in their home in 5 weeks (6 posts) and document their progress in their blogs. 20 featured designers post links to their posts at Calling It Home on Wednesday, the rest of mere mortals (like me) post on Thursdays. On the last week of the challenge, you need to have the room reveal – finished, clean and pretty! That is a LOT to do in 5 weeks.
The challenge for guest participants starts tomorrow, and I am going to decorate the one room in my house with absolutely no style nor taste nor anything. It is pretty much the worst…. I will tell you more about it tomorrow.
In the mid-time, I am busy figuring all this out. I have never remodeled a room. I am not a designer. I have no formal knowledge, but I do LOVE everything about it, and have a decent eye that needs a lot more training.
Also, I don’t have a super budget, but I have a pretty clear idea of what I want to achieve. Tune in tomorrow for the super scoop of chocolate ice cream.
It is really nice to be excited about something. I am thinking about this room every single hour of the day, making decisions and trying to see the big picture.
See you tomorrow! and thanks for stopping by.

Light!! So much light…The furniture and vases were designed by Hadid.
Look at that table! Isn’t it gorgeous. And that “sofa” is supposed to reflect the movement of glaciers… and it does, don’t you think?
She designed that Louis Vuitton bag… for real. I wonder what this woman didn’t do. She lived 5 lives instead of 1.
Her bedroom… so clean, almost clinical, and I am sure that TV was rarely used.
Her vanity table, perfectly arranged. It looks like a museum piece instead of a place where you apply make-up.
Her collection of Murano glass… plus all that carefully selected furniture. I wonder what would have happened if somebody placed an IKEA wicker chair in her home… ha! Unhappiness, for sure.
The wall art was created by her. The table is called Aqua, another of her designs. There is a better perspective of it here:

She loves El Quixote.
So many cool findings on every wall!

The owner: Toya, created this stained glass. The girl is supposed to represent one of her daughters.
A triangle window… genius!

Teal…
Toya created this stained glass, too.

The garden was big and full of statues and random artifacts. It was a magic place: you would never know where the next surprise could be. Also, each statue has a meaning and a reason to be there.
The house was constructed on the grounds of an old church. Can you spot the crosses in the photo above?
This fairy is so cute. Not more than 5 inches tall, but a lot of personality.
This statue of the man with the square head is my favorite. Toya bought it for her husband after an argument, and it represents the lack of flexibility (and empathy) that men have when seeing the world and women. Did I mention Toya is a feminist?

Look at the messy floor pattern and amazing colors:
What about this gorgeous wooden ceiling I mentioned earlier. I want it in my house, don’t you?

And as the final cherry on top, those teal tiles:
